Fantasy Worldwide Film Festival to Hold Seminar

After opening to great acclaim in November 2005, The Fantasy Worldwide Film Festival is shaping up this year to being bigger and better than ever; more than forty films – shorts, features and documentaries - will be screened over the weekend of October 27-29, 2006.

In addition to the regular schedule of films, Fantasy Worldwide is expanding its events to include a seminar on the festival’s opening night:

Industry experts – authors, filmmakers and gamers – will sit on the panel to discuss the fantasy genre, its relevance and growing popularity, and their own work within the field.

This is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with professionals working in a broad range of media within the sci-fi and fantasy genres. Audience members will have a chance to ask questions after the general discussion, and will get a sneek peek at behind-the-scenes stories of some films being screened at the festival (the producer and lead actor of Sidekick, for example, will be on the panel).

While open to everyone, the seminar will be especially of interest to film, writing and animation students and those looking to start a creative career in sci-fi or fantasy. And at a student rate of $5 per ticket (general admission $8), it will be an invaluable opportunity to learn from the best.

But of course, whether you’re a fan or looking to pursue this as a career, there will be something for everyone.

Date: Friday, October 27
Time: 4:00-6:00pm
Place: Innis Town Hall (University of Toronto campus)
